The George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures (UMFST) <\/strong>is a public higher education institution with a history of over 70 years of medical education, among the top three medical universities from Romania and the only one with studies in other local languages (Hungarian line), besides international programmes in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since September 20, 2018 UMF has become The University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Tirgu Mures (UMFST) as a result of merger through takeover of another local public Universtity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In its new formation, UMFST has over 10,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, master, PhD programmes and residency, 35 undergraduate programmes, 33 master programmes and 7 doctoral fields of research. UMFST has a staff of 1,233 employees, of which 739 teaching and 494 non-didactic staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculties in the medical field:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

  • Faculty of Medicine (programmes in General Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Balneo-physiokineto-therapy and Physical Education)<\/li>
  • Faculty of Pharmacy (also including a programme in Medical Cosmetics)<\/li>
  • Faculty of Dental Medicine (Dental medicine and Dental Technician)<\/li><\/ul><\/font>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"Ani\u0219oara Pop<\/strong> is an Associate Professor with a PhD in Applied Linguistics and head of the Foreign Language Department at UMFST Tirgu Mures, Romania. She has been teaching ESP for over 25 years and holds certificates for teaching and communicating in English for\u00a0 specific purposes – Homerton College Cambridge (2010) and employment of new techologies in communication – Lake School Oxford (2010). Anisoara is author of\u00a0 books and \u00a0coursebooks for teaching ESP,\u00a0 exploitation of virtual platforms for Medical English learning (Edmodo, Facebook, Moodle), research papers on the use of emerging technologies, voice tools, social networking. She moderated international online courses for professional development (Becoming a Webhead 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 EVO TESOL USA) and employs virtual learning platforms in her teaching on a constant basis (Edmodo, wikipedia, blogs). Besides presentations at international conferences she is a recipient of \u00a0grants in the fields of ESP and the\u00a0 use of new technologies and communication in medicine: TOEFL Board \u2013 USA (2009); BESIG-IATEFL Poznan (2009); TESOL Spain, Lleida (2010); WR Lee Grant of IATEFL, UK, 2011; SoftisPed \u2013 Softskills for Children\u2019s Health Erasmus+ Strategic partnership (2016).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"Adrian N\u0103znean <\/strong>is a university lecturer who holds a PhD in linguistics and is specialized in medical translations and ME methodology. He published his PhD thesis entitled \u201cChallenges and Difficulties in Translating Medical Texts\u201d, Lambert Academic Publishing,\u00a0 Saarbr\u00fccken, Germania (2015), is co-editor for two volumes of Medical English Proceedings (2016, 2017) and co-author of a Dic\u0163ionary of economic terms (2014). He performed several Erasmus+ teaching mobilities to European medical universities and also published a course-book of practical activities for medical students: Medical English Vocabulary Practice (2015) and over 20 articles in the field of language teaching, linguistics and research on medical translation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
